Impacto trasero (latigazo cervical)Las lesiones de latigazo cervical son comunes en el impacto trasero. Si bien no se entienden perfectamente los mecanismos que provocan las lesiones, se sabe que el diseño del asiento y del reposacabezas puede influir en el riesgo de lesiones. Euro NCAP evalúa la geometría del sistema de retención en relación con la cabeza y los ensayos de los asientos en tres niveles de gravedad del impacto (alto, medio y bajo) utilizando un dummy diseñado especialmente para el impacto trasero. Los asientos de la parte superior de la tabla son susceptibles de ofrecer una mayor protección frente a los situados en la parte inferior.
